Hey everyone! Have you heard of the Vex Robotic Robotic Arm? Kids and robotics enthusiasts alike will have fun building this STEM-based kit that pays special attention to important scientific principals including gear reductions and power transfer through the robotic arm’s intricate gearing techniques!
The Vex Robotic Robotic Arm is such a cool toy! My 13 yr old son and I had a ball putting it together…but of course, the best part is playing with it at the end! The fact that it has over 300 pieces both intrigued us as well as scared us to death, lol! But all in all, the directions are extremely thorough, yet easy to understand. My son wanted to do it without the instructions, (such a man already lol) but I talked him out of that one!The instructions were very helpful! You’ll also need a few tools to assemble it. For starters, there are some pretty tricky parts that you have to put the small pieces into place, but it’s really not too hard.
I was actually quite amazed because when I first got this, I thought I’d just be connecting a few things together and that would be it, but you need to piece all the new gears together yourself. And it’s actually quite fun! The pieces fit together fairly easy and we quickly got the hang of it and were done!
Again,I love that it’s so simple! And when,we were done, we were so excited and SO proud of our work! It’s so smooth and easy to operate! My son and I had a great time putting this together and also allowed us to spend some quality time together doing something fun and educational! As we expected, it was very time-consuming to build. In fact, it actually took around three hours to build, If you’re interested in mechanisms, gears and engineering or are just always wondered how industrial robots work, then this is definitely for you. It’s also pretty strong too,I was super impressed by the things it could pick up! The arm has a wide range of movements which makes for a lot of fun! It does cost around $50 which I don’t think is bad at all. If they had this toy back in the 90s it would probably be much more.
I highly recommend the Vex Robotic Robotic Arm! You will not regret it! My son really came out of his shell with this toy! He is usually not very interested in many toys, but this one perked his interest immediately! The best part and MY favorite thing about this toy is my son is CONSTANTLY picking up the house with his Robotic Arm! And of course, who am I to complain? 🙂 HEXBUG® hopes to inspire future generations of engineers and designers by allowing them to explore this exciting field through the fun of hands-on creative play and I think they may have accomplished just that! My son immediately took it apart and is rebuilding it by himself now, which I think is pretty awesome considering he has severe Autism!
